Ask for the service you need

Leaving your clothes with the staff

A lavandería is a laundry business, but services vary. To check whether staff can do the washing for you, say:

Quisiera dejar esta ropa para lavar, secar y doblar.

I’d like to leave these clothes for washing, drying, and folding.

You might hear “Sí, déjela aquí”—“Yes, leave it here”—or a question about the clothes.

Using the machines yourself

If you want to wash your own clothes, ask:

¿Tienen autoservicio?

Do you have self-service machines?

Do not assume every lavandería offers both options. Also, “planchado” means ironing; ask separately if you need it.

Confirm how the price is calculated

Before handing over your laundry, ask:

¿Cobran por kilo o por carga?

Do you charge by kilogram or by load?

If the answer is “por kilo,” ask whether there is a minimum:

¿Hay un mínimo de kilos?

Is there a minimum number of kilograms?

Confirm what the quoted price covers:

¿El precio incluye secado y doblado?

Does the price include drying and folding?
